Mitchell Wedding

This was one of the few weddings I got the chance to photograph this year (thanks Covid) and it was so beautiful! Trey and Maddie had been planning their wedding for over a year and it was originally planned to be in Tahoe. A couple of weeks before the wedding, their original venue had to limit the amount of guests because of Covid concerns. Maddie and Trey were determined to still make their wedding happen, and luckily a family friend was willing to host the wedding at their house. And the day was perfect! Everything came together, and I was so happy I got to be there to capture it! These two are dear friends of mine, and I know their marriage will thrive. Wishing them nothing but happiness in the years to come!

Sunflower Fields

This photoshoot was actually a giveaway and it is one of my favorite sessions to date! There are a lot of reasons as to why I did a giveaway. Mainly, I really wanted to practice film photography! I LOVE the look of film and how it teaches me to slow down during a photoshoot. I also wanted to step out of my comfort zone and practice a medium I am still very new to. I loved the results from this session and had so much fun shooting with Nicki and Mario! They had just celebrated their 1 year of marriage, so this was the perfect gift to them! :)

Shooting on film also helped me feel like I was starting something new and adding something fresh to my business. I want to grow and I want to continue to push myself creatively. As a photographer, it is so easy to get wrapped up in what I call the comparison game. I for one, am constantly comparing my work to other photographer's work and it can be super draining. I put my heart and soul into my work, which is good, but it can also be really damaging. How? Well, it is hard for me to separate my identity from my work sometimes. If someone doesn't like my style or photographs, then it feels super personal. If they don't like my work, then they don't like me. I know this may sound crazy, but it's the truth. If I were to lose or had to give up photography tomorrow... Would I be lost? Would I feel empty? Yes most likely, but I am currently learning how to separate myself from my work in a healthy way. Because my identify isn't just photography. I am much more than that. I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a running coach, a 9 on the enneagram ( haha), and SO much more. But most importantly I am a Christian and I love Jesus. I have to remember that my identity is in Jesus Christ.

If I put HIM first and remember everything He has blessed me with then I can slowly remove myself from my work and instead remember why I started shooting in the first place; because it is fun, it pushes me creatively, and I want bless others with photos they can have for a lifetime.

Steph and Jono's Colorado Wedding

THIS WEDDING! Goodness where do I even begin? This wedding is very near and dear to my heart. My cousin, Jonathan, married the love of his life, Steph, and I was so honored to photograph their beautiful day in the foothills of Colorado. There were so many tears and lots of laughter and the day ran just perfectly. One of my favorite moments from this wedding was when they said their vows to each other in front of only family and close friends. It was so intimate and I loved that they saved that moment for people who love them so dearly. My favorite line was when Jonathan told Steph in the midst of tears, "I'm here to help you reach your girls... I mean GOALS!"

Steph and Jono, I love you both so so much and I am so happy you guys found each other. Steph, you are the perfect addition to our family. You have such a kind heart and are so easy to talk to. Jono, I am so proud of the man you have become through Christ. Keep making others laugh and chasing all those fires haha. Most importantly put God first and you guys will have nothing to lose!

Ally and Cody's Tahoe Wedding

Wanna shoot a wedding in South Lake Tahoe?? YES PLEASE! I loved shooting this gorgeous wedding at the Landing Resort and Spa with Ally and Cody. I have shot many sessions for these two and I was so excited to now capture their special day as well!

Ally and Cody had been dating since high school and were so excited to finally get married. I want to share a few of my favorite moments from this wedding. First, their first look on the beach was everything! Cody's reaction was so genuine and the back drop of Tahoe's mountains were to die for. Next, I loved when Ally's sister held out marshmallows to get her daughter (the flower girl) to walk all the way down the aisle. And lastly was during Ally and Cody's sunset photos. There were these 2 ducks that wouldn't leave us alone! They kept wandering into my shots and Cody eventually had to chase them away.

All in all, this wedding was so beautiful and I was honored to be there to capture it. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Mark and Leslie Yosemite Engagement

Engagement photos in Yosemite with these love birds? YES PLEASE! I was so excited when Mark asked if I was interested in shooting their wedding. I am close to his family and Mark and I actually coach Cross Country and Track at Clark Intermediate together, which is so fun! This photoshoot was my first time meeting Leslie and she was so great :)

I had so much fun with these two. They literally giggled the whole time (making my job so easy) and were obviously very in love. I was honored to photograph this day and I can't wait for their wedding in September! :)

Best of 2017 (Part III)

Welcome to Part III of my Best of 2017 series!

This past year was truly a roller coaster in my life. So many things came full circle, tying together my work life and my home life. In one of the most unique weddings, I shot the bride and groom feeding a giraffe at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo (I also learned that you can get married at the zoo! Who knew?!). A few months later I was on the actual plains of Africa, on the Masai Mara, in awe of these beautiful creatures in their natural environment. Giraffes towered over me during my safari in one instance, and I visited the famous Giraffe Manor Estates in another!

Early in 2017 I captured a maternity shoot. We celebrated new life as we awaited her baby boy's entrance into this world. Then, sadly, I said goodbye to my grandma in the summer. Losing her was one of the hardest things I've had to go through in life. Such profound moments crept up next to each other all year.

I photographed venues ranging from pristine country clubs to a DIY wedding in the middle of the woods. Although all were very different, love was abundant in each and every one.

I captured a proposal in Yosemite, a complete surprise for a couple that came all the way from Arizona, and was surprised myself as my fiancé proposed to me on the cliffs of Malibu.

All along the way I learned. I learned about life as I grieved and as I celebrated. I learned about my craft and worked very hard to better myself in capturing all of these moments in my client's lives.

Best of 2017 (Part II)

Welcome to Part II of my Best of 2017 series!

All of my clients rock! I am seriously so blessed! It is so touching to look back and reminisce on the smiles, tears, and laughter. My job is the BEST!

Part III will be here shortly and I can't wait to share it with you all!

Best of 2017 (Part I)

WOW! What a year 2017 was! I am so blessed and so thankful for all of my clients, who I can now call my friends. Not too long ago, a mentor of mine told me that starting out as a photographer is hard work. It's not an overnight type of thing. It will take time, maybe even a few years, and you have to have a lot of patience. This is where most photographers give up. After a year or two of not booking clients, they put the camera down, and instead keep it as a hobby.

My business really took off in 2017. So much so that as of recently I have finally decided to take a leap of faith and pursue photography FULL TIME! Wooo! It's exhilarating and scary to have made this decision. I had to say goodbye to one opportunity that had a piece of my heart; in doing so it opened up the respect and love for photography that I truly owed myself.

Below you will see Part I of my 2017 recap. It's a three part series that I am putting together to reflect on my 2017 portfolio. Each part is a mix of weddings, engagement sessions, family sessions, senior sessions, and proposals. I'm so excited to start my journey as a full-time photographer in 2018! :)

Stay tuned for Parts II and III...
